ERM hired me as a Junior Consultant immediately after university in 2014. While at school, I enjoyed an internship conducting audits for a major auto manufacturer. I knew I wanted a job where I would travel and not sit in an office five days a week.

ERM has absolutely met my desire. I travel about 50 percent of the time and have worked in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Netherlands and Lithuania. About one-third of my projects are international, so I work with ERM experts from offices across Asia, Europe and the United States. With so many different clients from different sectors and regions, no project is exactly alike. I learn something new on every project.

When I began at ERM, I had prior experience with environmental topics, but not health and safety. However, the Partner who hired me thought my skill set would be a good match for safety training and audits. I worked with experienced ERM specialists in developing compliance registers, conducting on-site audits, and writing reports. I learned during mandatory new employee training about staying safe on the job and my authority to stop unsafe work. My first year provided an excellent overview of doing different things for our clients.

Over time, I completed additional training and gained more experience and project responsibilities. Although I never expected it, I discovered that I really enjoyed and am good at providing safety training for clients. However, I did not want to lose the environmental expertise I earned through my university education, so I focused as well on conducting environmental audits and trained to be an ISO 14001 auditor.

After two years, I was promoted. I spent a very successful year on a long-term assignment at a client site, working on safety data sheet reviews. In 2018, I was promoted to Senior Consultant. I now have more responsibilities managing bigger safety training and cultural transformation projects.

Throughout my time as ERM, my team leader has been very supportive providing training and project experience I need to grow and be successful.ERM makes available many opportunities to develop oneself. I am currently participating in ERM’s Aspire leadership development program which is strengthening my skills in managing people, client relationships and business fundamentals.

Without hesitation, the most positive thing about ERM is working with my colleagues. Our team spirit and the office atmosphere are great. I get to meet and collaborate with different people on different projects. I like to work here because it never gets boring.
