Buoyant Line Source Implementation Issues in AERMOD
Technical Track B - CEMS & Air Quality
EPA’s addition of the BLP model’s buoyant line source to their preferred short-range air dispersion model, AERMOD, was important, but the implementation was flawed. For cases where there are multiple buoyant line sources, or when modeling NO2, these issues result in inaccurate model results. ERM worked closely with EPA to develop a workaround solution which has been approved for use in all modeling studies. This presentation describes the issues, ERM’s solution, and the process by which the solution was approved for general use. ERM Principal Consultant Richard Hamel will be presenting.
Siting Solar- Zoning and Ordinance Considerations

This presentation will address basic interpretation of zoning code, tips for early consultation with planning departments and ideas for incorporating zoning compatibility, supportive ordinances and/or solar overlays early into the development process to inform siting and landowner outreach. This approach saves time, money and significantly reduces the risk of rejected zoning variances and public opposition. ERM Senior Consultant Nikki Payne will be presenting.

Utilities and IPP’s are radically streamlining their internal EHS functions to achieve their environmental compliance needs. ERM is working with US largest utilities for both generating and transmission businesses, including providing the corporate environmental function to a major IPP via performance-based managed services, while maintaining and increasing the value of the assets. Impingement Technology Performance Optimization Study Under BTA

This study documents use of existing data, such as, peer reviewed data, lake management fisheries data, and available impingement data, to determine potential and theoretical rates of impingement for assessing site-specific optimization of existing technologies associated with cooling water intake structures amid varied source water types and locations.
