Nobody can touch ERM on their approach to collaboration across borders. I know – before I joined the company, I worked for one of the big four consulting firms. They have their strengths, but they don’t have the community that we do. Nobody does. It’s all rooted in our clear sense of mission, in the fact that everyone is working towards the same goal – to shape a sustainable future. We couldn’t pursue that goal or make the impact we do by working in silos or putting up barriers. Borders are man-made, but climate is global.
That’s why, no matter where we are, this truly feels like one company. For example, I’m based in the Netherlands, but my team is based in the UK. We work with companies mostly in EMEA, so depending on where the client is based or even which language they prefer to work in, I’m working with consultants from Spain, Germany, Belgium, UK and even the USA, Canada and Vietnam. It may be international, but it’s all close-knit: wherever they are, these are all my colleagues.
People here are eager to build each other up. With so many experts in one place, we have the chance to surround ourselves with people who will teach you, challenge you and appreciate you. People who will help you expand your horizons, both personally and professionally. As the saying goes, “show me your friends and I’ll show you your future”. Which makes the future here very bright indeed.
I’ve been with the business for around a year, working with global Private Equities and their portfolio companies on their decarbonization, sustainability and ESG strategies. In the time I’ve been here, I can feel how the company is going through a transformation – it’s not just us as professionals who are growing, but the collective too. The way we work is changing, there’s a big push on digitalization and even our service offering is changing to respond to the market needs. It’s great to see, because you don’t want to work for a company that stays the same while the world around it is changing.
We all know that this needs to happen, and fast. What we do really matters in the world. It’s an exciting time to be part of a global leader in sustainability.
We have a deep technical knowledge almost in all industries, so we’re well placed to play an instrumental role in the transition to a low-carbon economy and a sustainable future.
