The challenge
The project, situated in northeastern Pennsylvania, encompasses approximately 13,000 acres of forested ridgetops associated with the wind power facility and approximately seven miles of proposed transmission line right-of-way. The development of this wind energy project required pre-construction site investigation, analysis and permitting support, and siting and construction of an associated 115 kilovolt (kV) transmission line.
What we did
ERM provided a wide range of services to support the development of this project, including site-specific ecological surveys, cultural resource assessment, Phase I Environmental Site Assessment, federal, state, and local permitting, agency consultation and negotiation, public open house participation, and transmission line routing analysis.
The impact
No significant public comments or concerns were received during local and PADEP Public Hearings. All local permit applications received preliminary approval. ERM has completed a wetland delineation of the project area that was utilized to support the PADEP Chapter 105 submittal. The permit application has been submitted and is under review. Based on the results of the cultural resource surveys, there are no anticipated project-related impacts to archaeological resources. These studies were used to support the ACOE and PADEP permitting. Agency consultation is ongoing to obtain clearance regarding outstanding sensitive vegetation issues.
